Message from L P King:

Hi there, I'd just like to welcome you all to our Mountain Mist Productions Site at www.1stmistcards.com, which is an off-shoot of our main site at www.1stmist.com. We have offered free ecards in the past and we are very appreciative of the talents of the people who have sponsored our cards. We started thinking though... What if?

What if? We could find a way to showcase the talents of our Mountain Mist Productions Family members AND provide the public with an entertaining way of sharing not only what we do but a little bit of their lives as well.... Before I go on I should explain that our Family consists of the Authors we publish and we have always encouraged them to widen their horizons and have a well-balanced writing life. Hence we have Authors who are also Photographers, Artists, Crafters, Poets, Comedians and so on. Our thoughts are that all these skills help them to relate to "real" people, our Readers, rather than keeping all this talent locked away in a writing desk.

And... life is about living and sharing and just because we write doesn't mean we have to cut ourselves off from the whole world to accomplish our goals. Our interaction with YOU, dear Reader, is not only what keeps us going but it adds depth to what we do and we develop not only as Writers but as people. For a Writer EVERY experience is significant and we owe you all a debt of gratitude because you spur us on to be even better and to seek truth in Literature and in ourselves.

So... the seed was planted and we started throwing ideas around. As a Family we also carefully evaluate what we do as we go and we had a good look around us at what was happening on the Internet and we weren't exactly happy with what we saw. Dare I say it... in some measure the Internet has become very "grotty". You know what I mean - people are turning away from the Internet in droves because of all the obtrusive advertising, spam, viruses, pop-ups, sneaky ways to get your private details, the lack of privacy. That makes it very hard for people like us who are trying to sell our books outside of the traditional avenues.

There had to be a way for us to get our message out there that we are independent Publishers who have this unique group of people who produce some wonderful books. Such is our commitment to our own little family that we are in the process of going "exclusive" and this means we will only be concentrating on the Authors we have rather than taking on new people. We've become a co-operative in essence, and we have said good-bye to a lot of the traditional ways of doing things and we have found our own "voice". You have no idea how good that feels and we are so looking forward to sharing this with all of you.

The only advertising you will find on this site is down the bottom of each page you will see a little box with one of our books featured. I'd like to ask you to send your emails with our link intact because we do need to get our message out there since the larger Booksellers make it very difficult for us. We are left doing things our way and lately we have been joking about getting books into Butchers' Shops. Don't laugh - it just might happen if we are at all to compete with the big guys!

Also... the Internet is the most wonderful entertainment medium and it would be a shame of we let all the scummy stuff spoil it for everyone. We also want to connect more with Readers rather than Writers as there are plenty of other places on the Internet where Writers can go and we wish them all good luck. We are at the stage where we just want to write our books and share them with our Readers. Nothing else matters, end of story.

Hence, the Mountain Mist Productions Family is here to entertain you and if we sell a book or two along the road that will be a bonus. By sharing the URL's we present you will be helping us get out there and for that we are very grateful. I hope that in the process you will also get to know our Authors as people because they are a wonderful bunch and they care very much about the writing process and above all they care about YOU.

And... with our motto being Read More, Talk More, Live More... we hope that you will not only enjoy your visit, but that maybe you will take a few moments to share some special words with someone you love. How about it... or are you too busy? It seems that everyone is way too busy these days, doesn't it? Too busy to read, too busy to talk, too busy to live. Well, that doesn't wash with us. Reading, talking and living are fundamentals that are far too important to ignore. Too busy to live? Ironic, isn't it? Want to do something about it? Want to put the "nice" back into the Internet? Be our guests....
